New Article: Attaining Interprofessional Competencies by Connecting Oral Health to Overall Health

This new article from the Journal of Dental Education, co-authored by the OHNEP Team and our interprofessional oral health partners, evaluates the effectiveness of the annual Teaching Oral-Systemic Health (TOSH) student interprofessional experience. Using data from 2017 - 2019, the article reviews the impact and value of the TOSH program with nurse practitioner, midwifery, medical, dental and pharmacy student cohorts. This article builds on our previous article on the TOSH program, The Impact of Oral-Systemic Health on Advancing Interprofessional Education Outcomes (2015).The TOSH program continues to be a successful clinical simulation and case study experience with interprofessional teams of students; the findings reinforce the benefits of incorporating interprofessional oral health competencies with students from multiple health professions. Click here to access and download the publication.
