March is National Nutrition Month, an annual intiative dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of maintaining healthy eating habits and regular physical activity. Good nutrition starts with a healthy mouth, and proper oral care is essential to promoting positive overall health outcomes. OHNEP is dedicated to raising awareness for the connections between oral health and overall health. We have several exciting resources to share that exemplify the connection between oral health and nutrition.

This blog overviews the connections between nutrition and oral health in older adults, along with the many challenges related to social determinants of health in maintaining their nutritional health. 
The Interrelationships Between Nutrition and Oral Health in Older Adults
This GSA Momentum Discussion examines the interrelationships between nutrition and oral health with an emphasis on older adults who undergo surgery, have cancer, or require special diets due to chronic health conditions and factors related to social determinants of health. Discussants also examine the need for interprofessional education initiatives that reinforce care that benefits both oral health and nutrition.
