AAFP Supports Integration of Oral Health Into Primary Care!

Good news! The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has joined a growing list of healthcare and dental professionals and public health and advocacy organizations in supporting the integration of oral health in primary care.

 

The model for integration, called the Oral Health Delivery Framework, was first described in the Qualis Health White Paper, entitled "Oral Health: An Essential Component of Primary Care." It describes the simple fiive step process that primary care teams can undertake to develop closer relations with dental colleagues and deliver preventative oral health care as a routine component of medical care.

 

The AAFP has issued a press release expressing its support that also calls on family physicians to join the growing momentum of professional colleagues using the model in order to take action and eradicate oral disease.
