Erin Hartnett

Erin Hartnett, DNP, APRN-BC, CPNP is the Program Director for the College of Nursing’s oral health programs, Oral Health Nursing Education and Practice (OHNEP) program funded by the DentaQuest Foundation, Washington Dental Service Foundation and Connecticut Health Foundation and the HRSA funded Teaching Oral Systemic Health (TOSH) program. Dr. Hartnett is a pediatric nurse practitioner with extensive clinical experience in pediatric primary care, adolescent medicine and breastfeeding. Most recently, Dr. Hartnett specialized in pediatric neuro-oncology at NYU Hassenfeld Center for Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders. In addition to caring for children who were currently being treated for brain tumors, she coordinated the Late Effects Program for pediatric brain tumor survivors and the oncology clinical rotation in the NYU pediatric dental residency program. Her collaboration with the dental residents increased her awareness of both the acute and late effects of cancer treatment on the children's’ oral health which led to her DNP capstone “Integrating Preventive Dental Care in Pediatric Oncology”. Dr. Hartnett recently received a national 2012 DNP Capstone Award from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the 2012 New York Times Nurse Innovator Award and the 2012 NYU Advanced Practice Award.
